I know its early- other years I haven't had hummers coning around until Mother's Day. But I heard one last night in my neighborhood so I put up the first feeder. And its a new feeder too, from Wal-Mart, with a pretty decorative green glass and scrollwork top. So we'll see if my ornery little buzzbomb hummer pals really are back for the summer or if maybe what I heard last night was a wishful figment of my imgaination.
On a beauty & springtime note, except that I haven't edged the driveway or mowed the grass, our yard is looking beautiful in its springtime finery. The miniature, flowering cherry tree has pale pink flowers blowing in today's breeze and the cherry tree that produces is puffy with white snowballs of flowers. The golden chain tree is lighting up with its yellow strands and the maple is just beginning to turn green. The miniature crabapple tree is flowered out dark red but hasn't flowered yet. There's daffodils, purple hyacinth and tulips sticking up everywhere and the violets that live in the flower bed by the steps not only survived the winter but are spreading. The tiny flowers look like they would be so fragile but they continue to survive the harsh cold but thrive.
